Eric Spier, MD - Medical Director, Mentis El Paso
Eric T. Spier, M.D. serves as medical director for
the Mentis Neuro Rehabilitation El Paso program.
In addition to his duties overseeing patient
treatment for Mentis, Dr. Spier serves as medical
director for acquired brain injury at Highlands
Regional Rehabilitation Hospital. He is an
attending physician at both Sierra Providence
Rehabilitation hospital, and Las Palmas Rehabilitation hospitals. Further, Dr. Spier acts as consultant at any of the other seven medical centers in town for rehabilitation, pain management and spasticity.

In June of 2002, Dr. Spier graduated from medical school at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Texas. He then completed his residency at the Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut and the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He is currently the physician liaison for TIRR in El Paso.

As a third generation El Paso physician, Dr. Spier specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and has designed much of his practice to focus on the care of patients with acquired brain injuries. He currently works to coordinate a spectrum of resources in brain injury care that will serve a population of El Paso. With his position as medical director with Mentis, Dr. Spier is able to treat and manage patients with acquired and traumatic brain injury and spasticity from the acute setting to their transition back to their community.


Timothy Owens - Administrator, Mentis El Paso
Mr. Owens comes to Mentis Neuro Rehabilitation's
El Paso facility with an extensive background
in healthcare management. During his 20 year
career in healthcare, Mr. Owens has been
responsible for facilities, operations, management,
and property development in several healthcare
settings. These settings include: acute, in-patient
and out-patient specialty hospitals, as well as
orthopedic and neurosurgical medical practices.

Beginning his medical career as Director of Plant Operations with one of Tenet Healthcare's top three revenue producing hospitals, Mr. Owens directed operations and maintenance of a large hospital complex. This hospital complex consisted of a 365-bed acute care hospital, four multi-story medical office buildings, associated grounds, and parking areas. His other responsibilities included managing the engineering, biomedical, security, physical plant, and environmental services departments. Further, Mr. Owens performed a broad range of administrative functions including project management for in-house construction and equipment projects, long range planning, budgeting, and regulatory compliance activities.

More recently, Mr. Owens served as an administrator for a large orthopedic and neurological practice in El Paso. This practice consisted of 27 physicians and five locations. He was a key member of the management team engaged in leading, directing, coordinating, and managing each facility. As Associate Administrator, Mr. Owens has considerable experience in clinic management, human resources, property acquisition, construction, property management, network administration, facilities maintenance and support services.

Mr. Owens is a member of the American Society for Hospital Engineers, El Paso Society for Human Resources, and Society for Human Resource Management. His community involvement includes memberships in Rotary Club of El Paso, Association of the United States Army, and National Ski Patrol. Mr. Owens received a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Texas - El Paso and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
