Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to visit their loved ones at the facility. Often, family members involved in the rehabilitation of clients are asked to participate in treatment sessions throughout the day; however, some separation from family is vital to treatment and the recovery process. Routinely, visitation hours are weekdays after therapy from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and weekends from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm.
Our team works hard to secure coverage for services through commercial insurance companies, workers compensation plans, private pay, and state rehabilitation programs. If an individual does not have coverage, our representatives will help individuals locate financial assistance from other entities.
Mentis provides physical, behavioral, cognitive and vocational rehabilitation to persons who have sustained an acquired brain injury including stroke. Services are provided on both residential/inpatient and non-residential/day program basis.
Mentis has a variety of healthcare professionals to assist with clients' recovery and re-entry into their homes, communities, and /or workplaces, whenever possible. Members of the rehabilitation team may include: attending physician, neuropsychologist, physician’s assistant, case manager, social worker, nursing staff, resident life assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, licensed psychologists/licensed professional counselor, and vocational counselor.
Clients should be comfortable when participating in the program activities. Participation in therapy activities will often require wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, non-slip exercise foot wear, and all appropriate undergarments. Since clients are encouraged to participate in community outings, one nice set of casual dress clothing is recommended. Each resident should also bring the following personal items: toothbrush/toothpaste/mouthwash, shampoo, deodorant, soap, hairbrush/comb, makeup/grooming products, two sets of sheets for a twin size bed, 3-4 bath towels, and wash cloths. Clients may also bring electronic equipment such as a small radio, television, cell phone, iPod, iPad, laptop, shaver, or hair dryer to use during their stay.
Mentis cannot be responsible for loss or damage of personal items or valuables. Therefore, any expensive or sentimental items of clothing or jewelry should not be brought to the facility. Weapons, such as guns, knives, and pocket knives are not permitted under any circumstances. Please notify a Mentis representative if you have any additional questions regarding what to bring.
Just as brain injuries vary considerably, so do lengths of treatment. Length of stay is determined largely by the extent of the injury and the client’s ability to engage in rehabilitation. Statistically, our average length of stay is three months, but we can easily accommodate individuals seeking a longer or shorter continuum of care.
Availability of therapeutic overnight passes is determined by the funding source (insurance, DARS, work comp, etc.). All therapeutic overnight passes require a physician’s order from the Mentis Medical Director and will have associated expectations for meeting predetermined goals related to the overall treatment plan.
When medically and clinically appropriate, client may receive therapeutic passes on weekend days. These passes also require a physician’s order from the medical director and will have associated expectations for meeting predetermined goals related to the overall treatment plan. You may discuss this further with the nurse manager or social worker.
To schedule a tour, you may contact the facility you wish to visit and speak to a member of the team.
